Managing and Leading Change in Midwifery Workshop

Across Australia, midwifery teams are experiencing rapid change. Some are restructuring to create smaller teams or introduce new caseload or midwifery models of care. Many are being asked to provide more services with fewer resources, in hospitals, birth centres or in the community. Burn-out, disillusionment and high staff turnover are often the result, placing additional pressure on those who remain.

The ability to manage and effectively lead change is crucial for all midwives and unit managers. Designed for both midwifery managers and team members with any experience level, this highly practical two-day program will help you to understand the nature of change. Using your own experience as a guide, you will better understand the responses of others, and develop strategies for managing and leading change, dealing with resistance and overcoming ambivalence. This two day program will include:

  • Understanding the nature of change
  • Why many people find change so difficult, and what to expect
  • Understanding and overcoming roadblocks to change
  • Influencing others and dealing with resistance and ambivalence
  • Developing solution-focussed strategies for problem-solving
  • Recognising and managing burn-out and 'change fatigue'
  • Nurturing yourself as a leader
