Birth Experiences: Caesarean Birth

Designed to complement childbirth classes, this film explains the procedures that occur during a planned caesarean birth. It includes admission procedures, going to theatre, administration of a spinal anaesthetic, baby being lifted out (so close up views of the surgery), postnatal baby weighing, first contact with the mother, a view of the incision, recovery ward and first breastfeeding. The father is involved throughout. Includes reflections of the mother 8 hours post surgery and 2 weeks later.
