This excellent video, made by the South Australian Dept of Child & Youth Health, will enable new parents to feel more confident in caring for their baby. Packed with sensible and practical suggestions for settling, feeding, calming and playing with the baby, it also covers safe sleeping, wrapping and bathing techniques. The emphasis is on breastfeeding, but artificial feeding is mentioned. There are no "rules" included, but leaving the baby to cry is discouraged in favour of adapting to the baby's individual pattern. As a supportive tool for parents, this outstanding video deserves to be available for frequent reference. A 60 page booklet that extends the ideas to the first 12 months comes with the video.
