Cutting the cord

I’ve been referred to a useful source of information regarding the issue of when to cut the umbilical cord after birth. It seems obvious to me that nature has probably intended the cord to remain intact until after the placenta is born, but many hospital protocols require the cord to be cut immediately after the birth, so that cord blood can be taken, the placenta can be dealt with quickly or the mother and baby can be separated for one reason or another.

My daughter is currently studying medicine and she was taught recently that cutting the cord was THE most important mechanism for stimulating babies to breathe!! No joke, AND it is supported in their texts!!

I am due to deliver November 18th 2002.
The best thing that I believe I have done is take Bradley Method classes. They teach a lot of common since related subjects on child birth. There are a lot of things that we learned about delivery and one of the subjects is cutting the cord!! Let the life support hose stop on its own and have nature take it's course. Doctors have been taught to intervene in everything!!!!!!!!!!!
